About Bookends

I named this blog after the 1968 album by Simon & Garfunkel because I thought it would be a nice reference, considering I wanted it to be about both literature and music. Bookends is, in a way, my own personal journal, a way of documenting what I'm reading and listening to in hopes of one day looking back and rediscovering a book or song I used to love. It's also a way of recording my life and the world around me during the time I keep this blog going. So much happens in the day to day that we tend to forget, and is sometimes pretty well illustrated in the books we choose to read and the music we choose to play. My hope is that this becomes a way of preserving the sentiment of my high school and college years, and however long after that this blog goes on for. ​ But why make it public? Well, I've also wanted for a long time to meet a community of people with similar tastes, who want to discuss their favorite songs on an album or their favorite passages in a book, and people with different tastes who want to do the same.
